JOMLAUNCH / the story

A community stage for people who love figuring things out.

Since 2015, JOMLAUNCH has brought Malaysian developers, web designers, UI/UX designers, and frontend builders together to show what they make—and share how it works.

It is not a startup demo day. A project can be commercial, open source, personal, or still in progress. The point is the technology, the craft, and what the community can learn from one another.

Timeline / 2015—2026

Eleven editions. A pause. A return.

JOMLAUNCH began in 2015 and has been held 11 times. The last edition was in 2023. There were no events in 2024 or 2025; 2026 brings a smaller, focused edition.

  1. 2015—2016 / First launches

Twice in 2015, then twice again in 2016. JOMLAUNCH establishes its format: a one-day gathering where people present technology they have built.

  2. 2017—2019 / A yearly gathering

One edition each year, bringing together builders and learners for demos, technical stories, and community connections.

  3. 2020—2021 / Online, across a week

During Covid, JOMLAUNCH moved online. The one-day format became a week of shorter morning, afternoon, and evening sessions.

  4. 2022 / Four days at WTCKL

The biggest JOMLAUNCH to date: four days at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.

  5. 2023 / Three days in Putrajaya

A three-day event at Dewan Damar Sari, Kompleks F, Putrajaya—and the last JOMLAUNCH before the pause.

  6. 2024—2025 / A pause

No JOMLAUNCH was organised during these two years.

  7. 2026 / The return

A half-day side event on the Impact Tech agenda, showcasing 10 community projects. Impact Tech is co-organised by NEF, MOSC, and IIUM (UIA), and takes place on 27–28 November 2026 at the Kuliyyah of ICT, IIUM. JOMLAUNCH's exact time slot is TBA.
